- Purpose of This Policy
1.1
This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) sets out the rules for using The Beach Geek’s services, support systems, tools, and networks.
1.2
The purpose is to ensure:
- safe and lawful use of services
- protection of systems and data
- prevention of abuse or misuse
- maintenance of service quality for all Clients
1.3
This Policy forms part of The Beach Geek’s Terms of Service.
All Clients must comply with it at all times.
- General Conduct Expectations
2.1
Clients must use the Services in a responsible, lawful, and considerate manner.
2.2
You must not engage in behaviour that:
- disrupts or degrades service quality
- interferes with systems or networks
- creates avoidable cybersecurity risk
- affects other Clients or The Beach Geek’s operations
- causes damage or loss to systems, data, or personnel
2.3
The Beach Geek™ may take necessary action (including suspension or termination) if these expectations are breached.
- Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited. These are non-exhaustive examples.
3.1 Illegal Activity
You must not use the Services for:
- hacking, penetration attempts, or unauthorised access
- distribution of malware, ransomware, or malicious code
- fraud or impersonation
- copyright infringement
- harassment, threats, or unlawful conduct
- storing, distributing, or accessing illegal content
3.2 Security Violations
You must not:
- disable or tamper with security tools deployed by The Beach Geek™
- bypass access controls or MFA
- share user credentials
- ignore or intentionally avoid security recommendations
- install unapproved or unsafe software
- expose systems to known risks
- perform any activity that compromises data integrity or privacy
3.3 Service Misuse
You must not:
- overload, disrupt, or interfere with systems
- use support services for personal or non-business devices not covered by your plan
- perform network scanning, crawling, or testing without approval
- request support for systems outside your plan’s scope
- misuse cloud storage, email systems, or shared services to the detriment of others
3.4 Abuse of Support Channels
You must not:
- circumvent the helpdesk process
- repeatedly request urgent support for non-urgent matters
- contact staff directly for work that must go through helpdesk
- verbally abuse, intimidate, or harass staff
- misuse or abuse communication channels
Unreasonable conduct may result in suspension or termination.
- Responsibilities Regarding Your Environment
4.1
Clients must maintain:
- supported operating systems
- licensed software
- correct configuration of business systems
- minimum acceptable cybersecurity posture
4.2
You must notify The Beach Geek™ immediately if:
- you suspect a security incident
- you change your systems or add new hardware
- you are compromised or accounts are breached
- unauthorised access is detected
4.3
You must not:
- conceal cybersecurity incidents
- attempt DIY repairs that may worsen issues
- modify network, server, or cloud configurations without approval
- Data & Privacy Compliance
5.1
Clients are responsible for ensuring their own data collection and handling practices comply with relevant laws, including (where applicable):
- Australian Privacy Act 1988
- Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme
- Industry-specific regulations
5.2
You must not use our Services to store or transmit:
- sensitive personal information without proper safeguards
- data in violation of contractual or regulatory obligations
- confidential information of others without authorisation
- Email, Internet, and Cloud Usage
6.1
Clients must use email, cloud platforms, and internet services in line with:
- organisational policies
- legal obligations
- cybersecurity best practice
6.2
You must not:
- send spam, scams, or phishing emails
- misuse shared mailboxes or distribution lists
- host illegal content
- use cloud services for unsafe or abusive activity
- Monitoring and Enforcement
7.1
The Beach Geek™ may monitor:
- system performance
- security events
- alerts and anomalies
- helpdesk usage patterns
This is not surveillance — it is security monitoring.
7.2
If we detect prohibited activity or risk, we may:
- notify you
- request corrective action
- restrict or block certain actions
- suspend services
- terminate services
7.3
Severe violations may be referred to law enforcement.

Depending on severity, The Beach Geek™ may:
- issue advisory or warning notices
- require remediation steps
- apply Additional Charges
- limit or suspend access
- adjust your plan
- terminate your subscription
- assist in incident containment
- Your Liability
You are responsible for any loss, damage, or disruption caused by:
- your misuse of services
- negligence or unsafe behaviour
- failure to follow recommendations
- unauthorised access resulting from your actions
- Updates to This Policy
This Policy may be updated periodically.
Updates take effect after being published on our website.
